CASE CLOSED - Compliance with Brevard County Code

Wednesday, September 21, 2011 9:57:00 AM

We had a good feeling after the inspecting code enforcement officer left our property.  The ANONYMOUS complaint stated that we had an inordinate amount of animals - sheep, goats, rabbits, etc.  The code enforcement officer found this NOT TO BE TRUE.   There were the PROPER number of animals per acre with all being healthy, well-cared for, with new cages or sheltering structures.  She took a couple of pictures to document the areas where the animals were as we were discussing the particulars of code as it applied to our RR-1 property (rural residential).   We discussed plans for a new chicken coop, whereupon we found out that our RR-1 zoning permits ONLY ONE CHICKEN!  A lengthy discussion ensued regarding code and the potential for any further action from their office.  The officer verbally stated that the complaint against us would be closed out (case closed).  We were ELATED!
